Katie Couric Edited Interview to Make Palin Look Bad
by SJ Reidhead at 06:51PM (MDT) on September 26, 2008

HOW TO DESTROY A DECENT WOMAN
The Pink Flamingo's regular readers know when I agree with Kathryn Jean Lopez we're getting a little disparate around here. This is one of those times. We all agree that Palin looked terrible in the CBS interview with Katie Couric. If the conservtive blogsphere had been willing to defend Palin maybe they would have found the edits from that interview:
"...(2:58) Couric: What, specifically, in your view, could be done to convince the new government in Pakistan to take a harder, tougher line against terrorists in that country?

Palin: At a time when new leadership comes in, that is the opportunity to forge better, tighter, more productive relationships and that's what we'll take advantage of with new leadership in the US and in Pakistan. And I'm sure that President Zardari, too, will agree with us as we commit to the support that Pakistan needs, that other nations in the region need, in order to win this war on terrorism. (3:32)

From the page: "The Real Cause of the Lending Crisis
By Duane Lester • Sep 25th, 2008

Newsbusters has an article from the New York TImes circa 1999, detailing one of the real reasons we are facing this lending meltdown:

In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders.

The action, which will begin as a pilot program involving 24 banks in 15 markets â€" including the New York metropolitan region â€" will encourage those banks to extend home mortgages to individuals whose credit is generally not good enough to qualify for conventional loans. Fannie Mae officials say they hope to make it a nationwide program by next spring.

Fannie Mae, the nationâ€s biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits.

Oh, my my my. Seems this is not really the Bush administrationâ€s fault at all. Looks like this mess started under Clinton. In 2003, Bush and McCain wanted to change things, but Barney Frank told everyone that it was all good:"... Read on
Americans United: Churches That Violate Law On Pulpit Politicking Will...

I agree, I hate churches getting involved in politics, It always mystified me that the churches that had the Clinton's speak as special guests never had their tax exempt status revoked, as the rest will if they talk about right wing issues... The Sad part of this story is... Our constitution was meant to keep the government out of our religious life, not the other way around... reason why our Founding Fathers left England in the First Place!!!

From the page: "Church-State Watchdog Group Condemns Religious Right Plan To Politicize Pulpits This Sunday Houses of worship that flagrantly violate federal tax law by taking part in a Religious Right-led effort to politicize America pulpits this Sunday will be promptly reported to the Internal Revenue Service, says Americans United for Separation of Church and State.

The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), a Religious Right legal group based in Arizona, is urging pastors to endorse or oppose candidates from the pulpit on Sept. 28, even though IRS regulations forbid tax-exempt groups from intervening in political campaigns. Reportedly, about 30 churches will participate.

Taking part in this reckless stunt is a one-way ticket to loss of tax exemption, said the Rev. Barry W. Lynn, executive director of Americans United. "We'll be watching, and pastors who violate the law can expect their churches to be reported to the IRS the first thing Monday morning."

Since 1996, Americans United has sponsored Project Fair Play, an effort designed to educate religious leaders about the requirements of federal tax law. AU has filed complaints to the IRS about 85 houses of worship and religious non-profits. One church lost its tax exemption, some have been audited and others have received IRS warnings."

Microsoft's 'I'm a PC' Ads Created On Macs &8212; RoughlyD…

Priceless!
From the page: "Flickr user LuisDS found that metadata on the creative copy of the "stereotyped PC user" and other photos appearing on Microsoft's I'm a PC website revealed that they were produced using Macs running Adobe Creative Suite 3. One might expect that Microsoft would use Windows PCs running its own Microsoft Expression Studio software, which as the company advertises,"takes your creative possibilities to a new level."

Apparently, neither Windows PCs nor Expression Studio are up to the task of taking on Apple and destroying its globe enshrouding "Get a Mac" campaign. The image of John Hodgman as a troubled PC struggling with Vista-related problems has pushed Microsoft to defend itself with a $300 million campaign to take control of the "conversation about Windows", using Macs as needed to get the message produced.

When LuisDS checked on the photos again this morning after publishing the metadata details on Flickr last night, he found that Microsoft has scrubbed the revealing details from the work, an effort that also resulted in the 272 KB photo ballooning to 852 KB."
